Swing

As the name suggests, swing dancing is characterised by a lot of swinging, flipping and lifting. It is a type of social dance performed with a partner. This dance originated in the 1920s and has since evolved into different forms and kinds like East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Jive, Disco or the Hustle. It is fast-paced, upbeat and a lot of fun to perform as well as watch. As opposed to ballroom dancing, where hands are placed on the waist or shoulder, partners hold hands while swing dancing. It does consist of some basic steps, but also leaves ample room for creativity by giving dancers the chance to add their personal touch to their performances.
